Away Beyond the Blue, One Star Belongs to You

Can you believe that this little chick right here is already three months old?? By the time Garrett was three months old I had documented every single drop of drool that hit his chin, but it's not looking so hot for Caroline. My blogging mojo has still not returned even though I'm waiting patiently for it to come back. Between you and me, though?  It's HARD, y'all! This sweet baby right here?  My goodness.  I love her so much but wow this new baby gig is so incredibly tough some … [Read more...]

Cloud Artwork in the Nursery

I’ve always loved clouds, stars, constellations and pretty much anything celestial. When I was a kid I would lie in the field beside my house and stare up at the puffy white clouds floating by. In my mind I could envision elaborate white castles with rainbow slides and cumulus cloud trampolines where I could bounce and play to my heart’s content. Oh, and there were also some Care Bears hopping from cloud to cloud with me.  Because what little girl in the 80’s didn’t love the Care Bears? When … [Read more...]

Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!

Today I'm sharing my planned c-section birth story, before all the details get lost in a fog of sleepless newborn nights. Baby Caroline arrived as scheduled on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 7:20 am. She was eight pounds, five ounces of total perfection, with my head full of dark brown hair and her daddy’s eyes and mouth.  My c-section went as smoothly as possible, but still I’m feeling the pain of it over a week later.  This recovery has been harder than my last one with Garrett, but I’m slowly … [Read more...]

DIY Ribbon and Lace Nursery Mobile

I’ve known all along that I wanted to DIY a pretty mobile for baby girl’s nursery, but I never knew exactly what I wanted until I walked into a local consignment store (Easy Street Resale) and saw these beautiful, but oh-so-simple ribbon and lace mobiles hanging from the ceiling.  Theirs were for decoration only and not for sale, so I decided to create my own version at home with a few simple (and cheap!) items. Last week was a super productive week in the nursery thanks to my friend Dusty … [Read more...]

State of the Nursery Address

Hello friends! I thought I’d hop on here real fast and give you a few nursery updates.  We are T-minus six weeks and counting until this little girl arrives, and finally we are making some progress on her room.  I know from experience that she likely won’t be sleeping in here for a while after she’s born, but that also means I won’t be sleeping for a while after she’s born so I’d rather get this marked off the to-do list ASAP! Here's where we are so far... If you follow me on … [Read more...]

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

If you're wondering why long time no posts, it's because I'm basking in the Florida sun... yet again. In the past two weeks I've taken two different vacations to two different Florida beaches.  Perfectly timed right in the middle of those two trips, my cousin Jackie gave birth to a gorgeous little girl last Thursday named Harper Grace.  She came into the world at 9:19 pm on Thursday while I happened to be out running errands, so I immediately texted her dad and asked him what Jackie wanted to … [Read more...]

Moose themed wall letters for G’s Great North Woods nursery

UPDATED May 2011: Please check out the Big Boy version of this bedroom here! Great North Woods Big Boy Bedroom When I was pregnant with my son I made some wall letters for his moose and bear themed nursery. Everybody who has given birth in the past ten years seems to put the child's name or initials above the crib. Who am I to buck that trend? But instead of doing the popular wall words on a ribbon, I decided to make something a little bit more rustic for my son's Great North Woods … [Read more...]

Things Left Unsaid: Baby Shower Edition

One year and one week ago thirty of my family and friends of the female variety gathered at a local winery for my baby shower. I was 30 weeks pregnant with Garrett at the time. Of course I didn't blog about it, since I was pretty mum during my pregnancy. Get it? Mum? Ha! Anyway, I will tell ya'll about it now, since I'm in full on blabberocity mode. The shower was moose and bear themed, just like G's nursery. The invites were perfect!Check out this awesome cake. It was lemon. My … [Read more...]

New Favorite: 11.08 – Moose and Bear Quilt

Nana and Papa made a recent road trip to the Yellow Daisy Festival and came home with this GORGEOUS quilt for G's nursery. I flipped out when I saw it because it is just so beautiful and absolutely perfect for his nursery. And it's handstitched, which makes it even more priceless to me. It's got all the woodland creatures and miscellany that we have used in his room on the quilt including a moose: A bear:A whitetail deer:Pine trees:And even trout! It's perfect. I love it so very much. Thank … [Read more...]
