Dear Diary: Confessions of an Old-School Blogger

In an effort to get this here blog chugging along again, I have decided to post more updates of the behind-the-scenes parts of our lives like I did in the olden days of blogging. I'm ignoring the rules and going back to my roots. Unskinny Boppy will turn twelve years old this year. TWELVE. That means I have been sharing our lives here for a dozen years, which seems impossible when you consider social media was barely even invented back then. In the early days this blog … [Read more...]

Caroline’s Nursery, Take 2

We have a small second bedroom on the main level of our house that started out as Garrett's bedroom when we first moved in. I was pregnant with Caroline at the time and Garrett was a 7 year old little dude who still needed some "nighttime support" to get to sleep in his own bed (especially in a new, unfamiliar house) Before she was born we decorated a nursery for Caroline on the second floor, which I blogged about in this post.  It was a really pretty room, but she never even … [Read more...]

How to make a Banana Split Trunk or Treat Decoration

Caroline dressed up as a Banana Split this year for Halloween.  This sweetie-pie is too cute for the creepy costumes, so we went with something a little more on the sugary side. When Garrett was a little dude I always decorated my car for his preschool Trunk-or-Treat to match his costume, so the tradition continues!  I made a giant DIY banana split decoration for Caroline's Trunk-or-Treat today. Here is the big ol' banana split in my trunk: It was fun to make it, so I … [Read more...]

Caroline’s Berry Sweet First Birthday Party

Caroline turned one last week, and we celebrated this weekend with a berry sweet strawberry themed birthday party!  It's so hard to believe that my little baby girl is already ONE. My goodness, time needs to slow down. I'll have a source list at the end of this post in case you are looking for any of these strawberry themed birthday decorations. I setup a little gift table in front of the fireplace, and decorated it with strawberries and flowers. I scored that sweet little green … [Read more...]

Berry-licious Birthday Planning + 15 Strawberry Desserts RoundUp

Summertime is in full swing, and I have berries running out of my ears. Blackberries. Blueberries. Strawberries. Cherries... (are those considered berries? IDK.) Do y'all do that too?  Buy berries simply because they are so cheap at the grocery store, then let the surplus sit in your fridge until they go bad? It's a serious issue for me sometimes.  Sometimes I need more ideas on how to use up all these strawberries and blueberries and blackberries I have in my refrigerator. But … [Read more...]

Away Beyond the Blue, One Star Belongs to You

Can you believe that this little chick right here is already three months old?? By the time Garrett was three months old I had documented every single drop of drool that hit his chin, but it's not looking so hot for Caroline. My blogging mojo has still not returned even though I'm waiting patiently for it to come back. Between you and me, though?  It's HARD, y'all! This sweet baby right here?  My goodness.  I love her so much but wow this new baby gig is so incredibly tough some … [Read more...]

Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!

Today I'm sharing my planned c-section birth story, before all the details get lost in a fog of sleepless newborn nights. Baby Caroline arrived as scheduled on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 7:20 am. She was eight pounds, five ounces of total perfection, with my head full of dark brown hair and her daddy’s eyes and mouth.  My c-section went as smoothly as possible, but still I’m feeling the pain of it over a week later.  This recovery has been harder than my last one with Garrett, but I’m slowly … [Read more...]
