The BEST Place to Stay in Franklin, TN

On 9/17/17 I hit The Big 4-0. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I decided to take a girl's trip to Franklin, TN. I have always loved visiting Franklin and could not think of a better place to take my BFFs from around the country. We stayed in THE cutest cottage that was absolutely perfect for the six of us. If you've been searching for the best place in the Southeast to take a girls' trip, Franklin is at the tippy top of my list, and Scarlett Scales cottage is definitely part of the … [Read more...]

Our Niagara Falls Vacation

It was all my Dad’s idea.  He wanted to take Garrett to see Niagara Falls. Nobody else in the family was able to go, so in early June we decided to take a Granddaddy/ Daughter/ Grandson trip to Niagara so G and I could see the Falls.  It has always been on my bucket list, so I figured now would be as good a time as any to see it.  We stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls on the Canadian side, mainly because it had the water park attached so we could have some guaranteed entertainment for Garrett.  … [Read more...]

New Favorite: Custom Cookies by Salsa Sweets

I had the most amazing 35th birthday with my girlfriends in a gorgeous house in Watercolor, Florida last month.  We went to the beach and ate great food and hit up all of my favorite haunts along the Gulf Coast from Red Bar to The Back Porch.  It was a perfect weekend.  Besides the amazing scenery, girl time and decorporn that I got to experience all weekend, one of the highlights of the trip were these custom made cookies that my friend Steph brought to the party. The cookies were designed by … [Read more...]

Dream House tour: 39 Blue Stem in Watercolor, florida

Yesterday I turned 35 years old. How did I get to be so OLD?   Up until this point in my life I have always felt like I was just a pretend adult.  But not anymore.  Now I feel like I’ve crossed some imaginary threshold into real adulthood.  But that doesn’t mean I can’t still have fun!  I am recovering from a weekend of annual excess with my best girlfriends from around the country. This year we ventured down to my favorite spot in the whole world—Seaside, Florida.  Before I tell you about the … [Read more...]

Featured Friend: Natalie’s Nursery

Remember back in January when I went down to New Orleans to surprise my girl Natalie along with four other of our friends and decorate her nursery and paint stripes on the wall except we wound up on Bourbon Street instead and didn't get hardly anything finished in the nursery like we had planned so we left her to finish it up because we were all hungover from doing this until about 4 am? From left to right: Natalie, Allison, Aly, Dusty, Kent, MeWell, Natalie took everything we didn't accomplish … [Read more...]

I spent the weekend in Fort Myers Beach with my sisters from another mister.  It’s so much easier to face the Dirty 30 birthdays when I am surrounded by a group of my best friends in a tropical destination.    I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend. Standing from left to right: Kelly, Steph, Dusty, Marcia, Kent, Allison, MeDown below: Emily and AlySince meeting them all online many years ago it’s become an annual tradition for us to get together on … [Read more...]

A Parrothead Playroom

Have you ever had anyone do something for you that is so selfless and generous and so incredibly wonderful that it makes you want to cry when you think about the depth of it? I received a priceless gift like this from my friend Allison at HalfofVAMH this past month. Ever since we moved into this house I've known I wanted to paint a mural on Garrett's playroom wall. Trouble was I really had no idea what scene I wanted to paint. The room is a challenge because it's a FROG (Finished Room Over … [Read more...]

Country Living Fair

A few weeks back I met up with my friends Kent and Lisa in Atlanta for the Country Living Fair aka my Mothership. Kent's baby girl came along for the trip as well as her sister-in-law Ann Margaret.  It was the perfect place for a girls weekend getaway.  Unfortunately I only had one day to peruse but NEXT year I will make sure to go at least two days.  There was so much to see that it was impossible to take it all in in just a few hours. I knew I would enjoy it, but I had no idea just how much I … [Read more...]

The Big 3-3

It's not often that you'll find a photo of me like this on my blog: Caught in a moment of complete surprise with a green pool noodle in my hand. But that's what happens when a herd of crazy women jump out from behind a sofa in a darkened room and yell "SURPRISE!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" and I realize that I've been gotten. You see, two weekends ago I turned 33 years old. I had the fantastic opportunity to celebrate it with some of my best friends in the wide world. A group of us gathered in Fort … [Read more...]
