Five Ways to Keep Kids Entertained in the Home Stretch Until School Starts Back Last week my facebook feed began filling up with everyone's First Day of School pics. Yours too? Yep, friends, it's already that time of year! Garrett still has a few more days before his school starts, so we are savoring every minute of this last lazy weekend before the alarm starts buzzing at 6 am.  But, this is also the time when I start hearing "I'm soooo bored!"  Summer vacation is great in the beginning. … [Read more...]

The Grand Bugapest Hotel + Crafting with Nature Book Giveaway!

When I was a kid my mom would take me to the library at the beginning of summer where I would check out all the books I could find on nature crafts. Then for a few weeks I would take my books outside and try out all the projects that caught my eye. When my friend Amy at A Nest for All Seasons told me she was writing a book called Crafting with Nature it was like she was writing it just for the little girl in me. 15 Quick & Easy Back to School Lunch Ideas

Looking for some simple Back-to-School lunch ideas? Here's 15 of my favorites from around the web. I'm trying to find some good recipes for Garrett's school lunches, and I thought you might like some of these ideas, too! Share the Love: Free Minecraft valentine Printable at C.R.A.F.T

Hey guys! Today I’m sharing these free printable Minecraft Valentines over at C.R.A.F.T.  (I like to call them “Valenmines”)  Garrett called my mom his “best Minecraft buddy” so the first Valentine’s goes out to her. They build all sorts of worlds on their iPads together when he visits her.  It won’t be long before she gets the hang of the XBox controller and we don’t see them again for the rest of the year. If your kid or mom loves Minecraft as much as mine do, be sure to head over to … [Read more...]

Minecraft Magnets: Make your Own (Free Printable)

While browsing the bookstore together recently, my five year old son suddenly spied an entire display of Minecraft toys from about nine aisles away. He ran over to check it out, and that's when the begging began. "Mama! Can I get this? And this? And this? And..." I stopped him in his tracks. I looked at the prices and my eyes nearly bugged out of my head. There was NO way I was going to pay $30 bucks for a sheet of magnets that I knew I could make myself. I call that getting tricked by a … [Read more...]

Valentine’s for the Classmates

I found some cute dinosaur and butterfly sandwich cutters at the Target dollar spot a few weeks ago, so decided instead of candy this year G’s classmates would get a sandwich cutter valentine.  I taped a little bit of scrap book paper to cover up the label, then I added a printed label on top of that.  I thought of a bunch of different sandwich related puns, (You’re my hero!) but in the end I stuck with what preschoolers know best- PB&J.  “We stick together like Peanut Butter and … [Read more...]
