Dream Vacation Giveaway to Anna Maria Island, Florida

As a child from Alabama I grew up vacationing in Panama City Beach (aka the Redneck Riviera), where the high-rise condos line the Miracle Strip like Wall Street, completely blocking your view of the water with 18 stories of concrete and metal railings.  In college we started going to Destin and Fort Walton Beach, which still had high rise condos interspersed with cute beach houses and plenty of sugar sand beaches.  These days my family makes the Spring Break drive to the 30-A towns of Seaside, … [Read more...]

Dream Rental House Tour: Eagles Nest at High Falls

Since everyone is feeling a little overwhelmed by all the Christmas ideas already, I thought I would take a minute to show you guys this GORGEOUS cabin where we stayed in early November, with nary an ornament or bow in sight.  We took a nice three day weekend vacation over Veteran's day weekend to Guntersville, Alabama.  I spent many childhood vacations at Guntersville State Park, so I have many great memories there when I was Garrett’s age.  This seemed like a fun place to take him for a … [Read more...]

Autumn in Amish Country

In October 2012 my husband and I decided that before we have to spend the next 13 years of our lives planning our vacations around public school breaks that we were going to take a Last Hoorah Anniversary trip together.   When I was pregnant with Garrett in 2007 I toured New England in the Fall with my mother, and then in 2010 traveled to Vermont and New York with my husband, so for this trip I wanted something different, but still craved that New England in the fall experience.  In true Beth … [Read more...]

Our Niagara Falls Vacation

It was all my Dad’s idea.  He wanted to take Garrett to see Niagara Falls. Nobody else in the family was able to go, so in early June we decided to take a Granddaddy/ Daughter/ Grandson trip to Niagara so G and I could see the Falls.  It has always been on my bucket list, so I figured now would be as good a time as any to see it.  We stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls on the Canadian side, mainly because it had the water park attached so we could have some guaranteed entertainment for Garrett.  … [Read more...]

Dream Beach House Tour: Cabana Blu at Blue Mountain Beach, Florida

Spring Break 2013 has come and gone.  That means this year is already a quarter of the way finished.  Unbelievable.  This year for Spring Break we headed back down to our most favorite piece of heaven on Earth, scenic highway 30-A on the Florida panhandle between Destin and Panama City Beach.  I found this pretty  cottage on VRBO named “Cabana Blu”, and when I called the owner for more info she said it had just been completed last month.  Brand spanking new within a few blocks of the beach?  … [Read more...]

Fun Things to do at Walt Disney World with a Five Year Old

If you are searching for fun things to do at Walt Disney World with a five year old, then you’ve come to the right place.  Let me preface this by saying that you won’t find much Princess talk here in this post. I have a boy, so we skip over all the Bippity Boppityness and head for the shoot-em-up rides.  Your daughter might feel the same way, who knows.  If so, that's awesome!  Also understand that every family is different and has different needs.   I have a bad hip and as my blog name implies … [Read more...]
