Bless it! Decorating the Dining Room for Fall

Ahhhh crisp cool air. Pumpkins. Leaves falling.  Fall has been calling my name this month!  How about you?  I've gotten a head start by decorating my dining room so I wanted to share that with y'all today. I'm teaming up with my favorite bHomies for this fun blog hop, and there will be prizes at the end! Woot! Sarah at She Holds Dearly was the previous stop on this bHome blog hop, so if you're joining me from her site, welcome! Wasn't this photo of Sarah's fall front porch just gorgeous? The Collected Foyer

Our foyer, living room, kitchen and dining room (which is my home office) is one big open space in this house.  Wide open living is great, unless you have a toddler who is faster than a speeding bullet zipping around snatching and grabbing every thing she can get her hands on. Here is a picture of our open living area BEFORE she started walking (the coffee table has since been replaced by an overstuffed ottoman that she can't chew on). If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw … [Read more...]

Gift Guide for the Vintage Junk Lover

Today I've got a fun Christmas Gift Guide for all those vintage junk lovers out there!  You know who you are...and you also know that you are incredibly hard to buy for, right?!  The gifts we junk-lovers want for Christmas is NOT found at the mall or in the Amazon Gold Box. Our loved ones have to dig around in the local thrift shops and antique stores to find our dream gifts.  So, instead of making them dig, I've assembled a great big list of all the best stuff right here in one convenient … [Read more...]

Everything I Own in a Box to the Left

Oh hai. ::peeks out from behind the tower of boxes surrounding my computer:: So, many of you have checked in with me to wish me luck with the move, and I wanted to let y'all know that we survived and have arrived at our new destination. The move itself went as smoothly as possible, considering that once the movers arrived I realized that I could easily have my own tv show that is a combo spinoff of Hoarders, American Pickers and Samford and Son. If you follow me on Instagram you already … [Read more...]

Glowing French Shaving Sink {Junkers United Christmas Vignette}

Let the Christmas decorating games begin! Today I am joining up with my junky-loving friends for the 2nd annual Junkers United Christmas blog hop.  <--Click here to see last year's junky little Christmas project! Over the years, my husband has brought home all sorts of antiques and junk that he finds during his treasure hunts.  I am never at a loss for cool old things to blog about because of my junk-lovin' man. For my birthday this year, he presented me with one of THE most unique … [Read more...]

Have a Coke and a Smile

Ever since we started the Whole30 Challenge a few months ago my husband and I have made a pact to stop drinking soft drinks. Cold turkey.  Just sat them down and never looked back.  Considering we both used to guzzle cokes like a dried up cactus, it has been a little bit of a challenge to keep that promise.  But, so far so good!  We are trying to maintain our good eating habits but with all the end of summer parties and back to school stress, we’ve let some junk slip back into our diets.  But … [Read more...]

Whatcha gonna do with all that junk

In case y’all haven’t noticed.  I love junk.  Any kind of rusty old junk. I’m on it.  And chippy, peeling doors.  And vintage anything.  So, when I combine all of those elements together with some beautiful container gardens it kinda makes my head want to explode with joy.   I might as well get it over with and change my name to Tow-Mater, because I am in LOVE with these rusty aqua sideboards from an old Ford truck (or Chevy? What the heck are these things… I have no idea.)  I spotted them at … [Read more...]

How To Shop Like A Pro At Fairs and Festivals

Remember that time I spoke on the Main Stage at the Country Living Fair and totally kicked my fear of public speaking in the booty? If you couldn't make it out to see my presentation last October, today is your lucky day! I'm going to share my best tips and tricks from the speech, minus all the awkward introductions since you guys already know who I am if you're reading my blog. The original speech was called "Flaunt your Fair Finds", but for Google's sake I'm going to change the title … [Read more...]

Have yourself a Junky Little Christmas

What an amazingly awesome weekend it has been!  Between all the food at our Thanksgiving dinner, Black Friday shopping and Auburn winning the Iron Bowl in the very last second of the game with a 109 yard field goal return that left me screaming so loudly I nearly passed out from glee, I feel like I need to book a weekend at a spa just to get my blood pressure to come down. I have also been working like Buddy the Elf on speed to get my house decorated for Christmas so that I can begin sharing my … [Read more...]
