Lone Ranger Themed Birthday Party Decor

This weekend we threw a cowboy roundup for our little Lone Ranger’s seventh birthday party.  The decorations are always my favorite part of a party, and this year was no different.  Since our lives are CrazyTown right now I tried not to let myself go overboard, as I am capable of doing with parties. But, in the end I kinda did go a bit overboard anyway.  Oh well.  Throwing fun parties is one of my most favorite things to do, and my boy only turns seven once, right?   In an effort to keep it … [Read more...]

Share the Love: Free Minecraft valentine Printable at C.R.A.F.T

Hey guys! Today I’m sharing these free printable Minecraft Valentines over at C.R.A.F.T.  (I like to call them “Valenmines”)  Garrett called my mom his “best Minecraft buddy” so the first Valentine’s goes out to her. They build all sorts of worlds on their iPads together when he visits her.  It won’t be long before she gets the hang of the XBox controller and we don’t see them again for the rest of the year. If your kid or mom loves Minecraft as much as mine do, be sure to head over to … [Read more...]

Snowpocalypse 2014, part Two

Sorry to leave you hanging on the edge of your seats!  I was interrupted by a little thing this weekend called a certain 6 year old’s birthday party. If you missed my first post about the scariest drive I’ve ever made in my life, be sure to read Part One of this story here. In my cliffhanger post, I had just strapped three five year old boys into my car and was heading back out onto the icy streets with this extremely precious cargo in the back of my SUV. As a mother I cannot imagine trusting … [Read more...]

Snowpocalypse 2014, part One

So earlier this week this happened… And this…. And this. (source for all photos) Now before you start making jokes about how southerners can’t drive the snow, let me try to paint a picture of just how quickly things deteriorated here over the course of just MINUTES on that day, when a city with over a million people became completely paralyzed by icy roads, unable to get home to their families. And these are just pictures from Birmingham, Alabama.  This same winter weather event … [Read more...]

Constructing An Epic Fairy Garden

Anyone else out there have a fondness for fairy gardens?  The Epic movie was one of my very favorite cartoons released this year.  Every time I wander around our yard with Garrett we point out little humps of moss or gnarled knots in trees that could hide a fairy lurking underneath.  I love the imagination behind it all, and the magical wonder of the possibility of a tiny world that exists right underneath our noses.  Every time a bug splats our window Garrett asks if it was a Boggan.  If you … [Read more...]

Thankful at Home: Fall Traditions

Today I have the honor of wrapping up the week of Thankful at Home blog tours that have been hosted by 25 amazing bloggers this past week.  It's been such a fun blog hop reading what everyone is thankful for this year.  I'm grateful to be a part of such a gracious blogging community where we can all lean in and hear stories of all of our rich Thanksgiving traditions.  I wrote about my childhood Thanksgiving memories last year when I hosted my first Thanksgiving.   Since I've already shown you … [Read more...]

New Favorite: Little Passports for my Little Explorer

My kid is a geography nut.  I mean, not to brag, but at just four years old he was able to correctly place every state on the Stack the States game without a single strike (with a little prompting from Grandma).  He loves maps, and globes, and he loves to watch the blue dot moving on the Google Earth app while we’re driving to school.  So when I found this FUN monthly subscription for kids called Little Passports, I was like PERFECTO.  I knew Garrett would absolutely love it. Learning toys are … [Read more...]

The best graduation cake idea, ever.

Garrett is graduating from preschool on Monday.  My little baby is no longer a little baby.  But, before this turns into a sap-fest, let me  show you the cutest graduation cake idea, ever!  How cute is that?  I cannot take credit for this idea.  I saw this idea over on Dukes & Duchesses' blog, and I knew it was the perfect cake for our preschool graduation party!  I gave the bakery a class picture so they could see hair color, along with a list of their names and this 1/2 sheet cake was … [Read more...]

Somebody Pinch me, I’m Published!

About a month ago I opened my mailbox and pulled out the very first magazine that has ever contained an article written and photographed entirely by me. It was kind of like a dream, seeing my name in print. The article was written in Yum Food and Fun for Kids Magazine, featuring my son's 4th Blast Off birthday party with a rocket ship theme. Garrett was SUPER excited to see his party in a magazine, along with all his friends from school.  Here is a camera phone photo of him seeing it for the … [Read more...]
