My blogging has always had an ebb and flow to it that is never consistent. I’ve never been a scheduled post kind of girl. There are times when I have very little to say, and times when I pump out the ideas like a freight train. Other times I have a lot to say, but I choose not to write it down here. Right now I’m in THAT phase… the quiet ebb phase, as you might have noticed as my entries get further apart. What can I say? It’s summertime. The pool is open. Life happens.
You’ll have to excuse me if my blog posts are few and far between this summer.
If you need me, I’ll be busy hunting for buried pirate treasure. That scurvy Pirate Garrett is drawing up the map now, and from the looks of it we might be busy for a while finding all this buried loot.
The Summer of Age Four has officially begun, and I don’t want to waste a minute of it. I intend to spend as much time as possible between now and Labor Day outside, eating popsicles, catching lightning bugs, swimming in the pool, digging in the dirt, running through the sprinklers and breathing in the fresh air with Garrett. Childhood summers are precious and few, so this is my promise to my family to enjoy it all. A few weeks back I went to the zoo for Garrett’s preschool class trip. I intentionally didn’t take my big camera, but I was able to snap a few pics with my phone. This is what happened for the first half of the day.
Hand in hand with his little friend Ruby… Putting one hand on the small of her back and leading her through doorways. My little gentleman. If I’m not careful, I’m going to blink and these two will be going to the prom together all hand-in-hand and hormonal. Oy vey. I can’t even think about starting Kindergarten, much less what my little gentlemen has in store for him in the teenage years. So, this is me enjoying the innocence of The Summer of Age Four.
Plus, our pool is absolutely sparkling right now. It’s never been this pretty in all of the summers we’ve lived in this house. It’s time to use it. And we are. Garrett is swimming all alone without any floats for the first time ever. Everyday new freckles pop up on his nose and cheeks even though we slather him in SPF 50. We are LOVING our time together in the pool this year.
I’ll definitely still post when I’m able, but I make no promises that much awe-inspiring content will be produced between now and the Fall.
My creativity has waned for now, along with my desire to blog about every little detail.
But don’t worry. It will come back. It always does.
When X marks the spot, that means it’s time to go seek the treasure. Here we go!

Awww, you’re such a good little mama. I wish we had a pool to lounge in all summer! Oh wait, first I need to wish for sun warm enough to make a pool even sound appealing! ๐ C’mon July! lol
Enjoy your time hangin’ with the little man. The last day of kindergarten for my son is almost here – I can NOT believe how fast that went! They’ll all be in high school before we know it.

Do you know how refreshing this post is? Glad to hear I am not the only one anticipating lack of posts this Summer. With two little ones, I am busy!! Wish we lived closer to hang out at the pool with you. Enjoy that sweet boy, it sounds like you already found that treasure!! ๐

Check out his sweet hair sticking up, as he intently makes his map!!! I love it! My littlest one always has some hair acting crazy, and I always seem to get it in my photos.
Enjoy him, I have a 14 year old daughter who is going to dances, playing competitive tennis, and studying for SAT’s… It goes so quickly! I also have a 3 year old, and I am enjoying every minute of her being tiny.
