Open it up, and count all the people!
I have been searching for an old church attendance sign for YEARS, you guys. Like, years and years. When I was a little girl I would sit in my Granny and Pop’s Missionary Baptist Church and stare at their attendance sign hanging over the preacher’s left shoulder. Then I would look around the room and mentally try to count all the people to see if there were more or less in the pews than there were last week. Here is a confession… I don’t remember a single sermon, but I do have a vivid memory of that sign.
When I walked into my friend Dana’s house and saw one on her wall, I knew I needed to step up my game and search harder, because seeing hers just made me want one even MORE.
Then, finally, the heavens opened and a ray of sunlight beamed down on this beautiful guy at the City Farmhouse PopUp Show. It even came with a full set of letters! I was giddy, but then I saw the price tag. It was out of my price range, so I took a deep breath and left it behind in the booth.
But, lucky for me, I have a husband who can read me like a book. He went back and pulled the trigger for me while I was at lunch! So, happy tenth anniversary to moi. I’m a lucky lady, and I totally know it.
This whole fall vignette makes me so very happy!
PS— If these gothic chalkboards keep popping up in my blog posts you guys are going to start wondering if I bought about twenty of them at the Nashville Flea Market. And the answer to that would be no. I just keep moving these two around my house for photo ops. I cannot help myself! I love them so….

That attendance board brings back so many memories. My Dad was a Baptist preacher (Southern Baptist). When you said recently that your church didn’t celebrate Christmas when you were growing up, I wondered what church. I am surprised to know this about Missionary Baptists. Christmas is and was a very spiritual holiday but we were aloud Santa Claus. I love your board that looks like an arched church window too. I am on the hunt now!
Beth at Unskinny Boppy says
OH! My grandparents were the Missionary Baptists, and they definitely celebrated Christmas. 🙂 It was my immediate family that did not. We were a part of the Church of God, International.
I hope you find a sign! 🙂

I LOVE the Church Attendance sign!!! I want one now!! I will be on the lookout!! And who was the vendor you got the gothic chalkboard from – do you remember? I would love one of those as well!! You are such trendsetter!! Thanks for your posts – love them all!!

I’m so sorry- I have no idea about the vendor’s name. He was on the fence between one of the sheds and the exit gate– had a lot of metal signs and such. I have a picture of his booth somewhere- let me see if I can dig it up.

I got it from a vendor at the Nashville Flea Market. I’m so sorry, but I don’t have his info! 🙁

I have never seen an attendance sign like that. I wonder if it is a Southern thing. I have lived in Michigan all my life.

Beth, this is such a wonderful vignette! I love the way it’s essentially neutral with just hints of fall color. That works so well with your wooden church sign. Love the Gothic chalkboard next to it, as well, as it really reads “church”. Very cool pairing!

That sign is awesome! And what a wonderful hubby for buying it for you when you didn’t!

This brings back such wonderful memories of the little country Church I grew up in. There was a Board just like that at the back of the Church. You find such awesome things and they are all beautiful!
