Peanut Butter Cornflake Coconut Bars + Gooey Video Tutorial

I've been making these peanut butter coconut squares since I was a little girl, which might explain why turned out so unskinny as an adult. What can I say? I'm a child of the 70's. Ahhh, the 1970's. Those glorious years when moms were not scared of red food dye or HFCS or cigarette smoke or letting their toddlers ride with their faces pressed against the glass of a station wagon rear window. Our KoolAid pitchers were filled with cups of toxic sugar and our AquaNet ate holes in the Ozone … [Read more...]

How to refinish an old wooden deck

Our back deck had seen better days. The wood was not rotting, but it was SO weathered and cracked that Caroline couldn't walk across it without getting splinters all in her sweet little feet.  This was a big issue for my anti-shoe-wearing, barefoot-loving little girl. She loves running around outside barefoot and playing in the hose, so we had to do something about all the splintered wood ASAP. It's been on the never-ending to-do list to try to refinish the back porch for a while now, … [Read more...]

On turning 40

Today I turn FORTY years old. That's right. It's the big one, Elizabeth! I've been doing a lot of reflecting on my life lately. I've been evaluating the details of different areas to see if I'm taking the right path that gets me to my goals. Bountiful Blessings: Free Fall Themed Printable

It sure has been a stressful few weeks for America, huh? First Hurricane Harvey hit Texas and Louisiana then Irma rolled over all of Florida, half of Georgia and some of my home state of Alabama.  As I type this, my kids are out of school because of the threat of bad weather from Irma passing over us.
