Five Perfect Christmas Cookies

  We used to have an annual Holiday tradition in my house called “Christmas Baking Day". My father-in-law would come over and we would roll up our sleeves in the kitchen together to do all sorts of holiday baking. He inherited his love of baking from his mother, and hopefully we will pass down this tradition to my son who also loves to help me in the kitchen. We've gotten out of the habit of Baking Days in the past few years, but I'm hoping to crank that back up again this … [Read more...]

The Christmas Village made from Gingerbread and Paper

  We are less than 10 days away from Christmas now.  Can you feel the blood pressure starting to rise?  How are ya doing?  Presents bought?  Gifts wrapped?  Cards mailed? Am I giving you anxiety? Ok, sounds good.  My friend Kristin over at Ella Claire Inspired recently posted a great tutorial on how to create … [Read more...]

Delivery Driver Porch Snacks {Free Printable}

It's that time of year again! At approximately 5:59 pm tomorrow night, let the holiday shopping season commence. If the thought of battling it out with the Black Friday crowds makes you want to curl up in a ball and cry, then you're probably an online shopper like me. That means one thing-- tons of cardboard boxes are headed our way very soon, delivered not by reindeer, but actual hard-working people in big box trucks or folks with steering wheels on the wrong side of their cars. Christmas Coloring Pages for the Kids Table (Christmas Printables Blog Hop!)

Back in the days of yore before every kid had an iPad permanently attached to their wrists, we had to entertain ourselves while the grown-ups chatted around the dinner table. There was nothing more fun than beating my sister in a game of Hangman or Tic-Tac-Toe. These days, every sit-down restaurant has a kids meal activity page with a three-pack of crayons that melt in your purse if you accidentally leave them in the car in the summer time. Speaking from experience here. So, if … [Read more...]

Countdown to {a Simple} Christmas

Garrett found out the truth about Santa Claus this year. He's eight, and apparently the Thing To Do in 3rd grade is spoil the fun for other kids about the man in the big red suit. So, a few months ago he came to me and asked me straight up if Santa was real. And I answered honestly, because I could see in his eyes that he already knew and to lie about it would just delay the inevitable. He took the news in stride, and promised not to tell Caroline the truth once she was old enough to … [Read more...]
