Like a Room without a Roof {Spring Home Tour}

Welcome to the middle of March! Can y'all even believe we are already 3 months into 2017?  The flowers are blooming, clocks have sprung forward and there's like three feet of snow on the ground in New England right now.  Here in Alabama, though, all signs point to SPRING up in hurrr, which is just fine by me. My bones need some sunshine and warmth again. Today I'm joining a few of my most talented blog friends along with our co-hosts Homegoods and Country … [Read more...]

Cozy Spring Home Tour Blog Hop

I know, I know. I just posted the Hallelujah Home Tour a few weeks back. Is it too soon for another one? Maybe. But my daffodils are in full bloom, and they have taken over my house right now, so I might as well show them off, right? I also couldn’t resist joining some of my very favorite bloggers for this Cozy Spring Home Tour today, hosted by my friend Rachel at Shades of Blue Interiors.  As a gardener, Springtime is one of my favorite times of year. And this year I have a … [Read more...]

FINDING SOUTHERN ROMANCE; The Rest Of The Story

I believe that every home has a story to tell, but especially the Old Ones.  Those 100+ year old homes that have seen multiple generations of folks pass through the halls and swing on the front porch. Imagine if those walls could talk.  What would they say? Mobile, Alabama has it’s fair share of these matriarchal mansions, standing proudly under the dappled shade of the tall live oak trees. Over the decades, some of these beauties have been neglected and fallen into disrepair.  But then there … [Read more...]

The Hallelujah Home Tour

How’ bout we kick off 2016 with a FULL home tour, shall we? Welcome to our new home! I've done a Christmas Home Tour and even a video home tour, but up until now I have not posted a full-fledged Old School Blogger home tour of our new house. And yes, before you ask, it has taken me an entire year to decorate this house and post pictures. Somewhere in there I had a baby and lost my mind for a few months, but I’m back and ready to get back in the blogging saddle. I’m calling this … [Read more...]

It’s all in the Details

The first thing you notice when you pull up to Dana Tucker’s beautiful Franklin, TN home are those chartreuse double front doors.  Those suckers are spec-freakin-tacular. Dana, who is one half of the Dynamic Duo that make up Forest Home Media who invited us up to Nashville for a girl’s weekend last week, is also a blogger.  She and her husband own Bella Tucker Decorative Finishes, a high end specialty painting company.  Inside Dana’s beautiful home, there is eye candy on every single wall.  … [Read more...]

The 2014 Birmingham Parade of Homes kicked off last weekend, and continues tomorrow and Sunday (April 12-13th). There are 75 homes available to tour around the Birmingham metro area this year, and all of them are just gorgeous!   Find a map and more info here. Beam me up, Scotty: Tour the HGTV Smart Home 2014

April 15th Edit: Today is the day to start entering to win the 2014 HGTV Smart Home! Click here to enter! All my life, I have been bombarded with predictions of life in “the future”.  George Jetson and Michael J. Fox both led me to believe that I would be flying in my very own DeLorean-esque hovermobile while eating freeze-dried pizzas that cooked up in 2 seconds flat from the local levitating fast food restaurant.  Here we are nearly fifteen years into the new millennium, and I am STILL … [Read more...]

Painted basement Steps with Board and batten

Today I’m pulling one from the archives to show you guys how we transformed our basement staircase with a little bit of paint and some board and batten.  I originally shared this basement renovation project over on the DIY Showoff’s blog back in 2011. When we moved into this house, our basement staircase looked like something from a maximum security prison.    Here is what the steps looked like when you were headed down into the dungeon:   Once you got down there, the scene did not … [Read more...]
