4 Ways to Find Unique Farmhouse-Style Decor

It's really easy these days to buy mass-produced farmhouse style decor items. That Fixer-Upper rustic farmhouse style is still super hot-n-trendy, so it is available everywhere you turn in the home decor stores. I even featured a local farmhouse decor truck here on the blog a few months back that is like an ice-cream truck for raving farmhouse decor fans. But even if you don't have farmhouse deals-on-wheels in your city, you can roll down to any big box store and find a million pretty … [Read more...]

What Might Have Been

The day started like any other--a lazy weekend when my husband took the kids to visit his parents at their lake house. I stayed home to work on projects and get the laundry put away. But as soon as he walked through the door, I could tell something was different. Something had happened. His eyes were shining with excitement as he pulled out his phone and said "I found a building today." Ok, let me back up a bit. I had been toying with the idea of opening a brick and mortar store to … [Read more...]

We need to talk about this new Magnolia line at Target…

Ok, ladies. Gather round, we need to have a chat. Everyone is talking about Joanna Gaines new Hearth and Hand™ line at Target right now. Apparently some folks were expecting it to be a whole lot more... something.  Amazing? Farmhouse-y?  Shiplappy? I started seeing a lot of my blog friends thumbs-downing the whole product line, so I had to go check it out for myself. After flipping through the virtual pages of Target and examining every Hearth and Hand product, here is what I know to be … [Read more...]

Decorating the {new} Dining Room Table for the 4th of July

Remember when I thought it would be a good idea to have my home office in my dining room when we first moved in this house? Welp. I was wrong about that.  Very wrong. Here is a cleaned up picture of the office dining room.  It looked this nice for about 2.4 seconds while I took this photo. And then the crap piled right back up in this room so fast it made my head spin. The dining room is the very first room you see when you walk through the front door of my house, and my office desk was … [Read more...]

The Collected Foyer

Our foyer, living room, kitchen and dining room (which is my home office) is one big open space in this house.  Wide open living is great, unless you have a toddler who is faster than a speeding bullet zipping around snatching and grabbing every thing she can get her hands on. Here is a picture of our open living area BEFORE she started walking (the coffee table has since been replaced by an overstuffed ottoman that she can't chew on). If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw … [Read more...]

The Grand Bugapest Hotel + Crafting with Nature Book Giveaway!

When I was a kid my mom would take me to the library at the beginning of summer where I would check out all the books I could find on nature crafts. Then for a few weeks I would take my books outside and try out all the projects that caught my eye. When my friend Amy at A Nest for All Seasons told me she was writing a book called Crafting with Nature it was like she was writing it just for the little girl in me. So, today I'm excited to offer you a Crafting with Nature book giveaway along … [Read more...]

FINDING SOUTHERN ROMANCE; The Rest Of The Story

I believe that every home has a story to tell, but especially the Old Ones.  Those 100+ year old homes that have seen multiple generations of folks pass through the halls and swing on the front porch. Imagine if those walls could talk.  What would they say? Mobile, Alabama has it’s fair share of these matriarchal mansions, standing proudly under the dappled shade of the tall live oak trees. Over the decades, some of these beauties have been neglected and fallen into disrepair.  But then there … [Read more...]

Gift Guide for the Vintage Junk Lover

Today I've got a fun Christmas Gift Guide for all those vintage junk lovers out there!  You know who you are...and you also know that you are incredibly hard to buy for, right?!  The gifts we junk-lovers want for Christmas is NOT found at the mall or in the Amazon Gold Box. Our loved ones have to dig around in the local thrift shops and antique stores to find our dream gifts.  So, instead of making them dig, I've assembled a great big list of all the best stuff right here in one convenient … [Read more...]

I’m in Old Apothecary Heaven

It finally happened.  After years (decades!?) of searching for the perfect apothecary cabinet for my house, I have found it. This pre-1900 beauty was sitting in one of my very favorite antique stores in the world- Scarlett Scales Antiques in Franklin, TN.  And now, after our weekend road trip to the City Farmhouse Pop-Up show... it's sitting in my foyer! Once it got settled in at home I wasted no time decorating it for fall. But the fall decor is not why we are here … [Read more...]

City Farmhouse Popup Show, 2015

Hey everybody! It’s Caroline here with my very first blog post! I got my first taste of the vendor booth lifestyle at the City Farmhouse Pop Up show in Franklin, TN yesterday.  I was raring to go with tickets provided by Kim from City Farmhouse. Thanks so much, Kim! But, once we got to the Fair all I could think to myself was HOLY GUACAMOLE IT’S COLD OUT HERE! “Mama, I’m freezing!” Yes, it was super cold!  I woke up to a frost warning notification on my mom’s phone, so she bundled … [Read more...]
