2017 Year in Review {My Top 10 Best Posts of 2017}

2017 is in the history books, and it was a doozy of a year. Thankfully, for me personally, it was not as bad as 2016, and for that I am grateful. This could be known as the year I got my sanity back after temporarily losing it for a few years. I bought myself a little jon boat with a trolling motor and have gotten back to fishing, which I LOVE with all my heart, so that has been really great for my mental health. We cancelled our cable and actively avoided getting sucked into the echo … [Read more...]

2016 Year in Review: Best Posts of 2016

Not gonna lie, folks. 2016 has been a hellacious year. Pure torture, in some parts. I spent a great deal of time this year sitting beside my parent's hospital beds and praying for recovery. In April my father was hospitalized for 2 weeks after having emergency diverticulitis surgery.  Then in August, the phone call came that my mom  had suffered a heart attack and had to have a heart valve replacement. Going through these two MAJOR surgeries with both parents just a few months apart made me … [Read more...]

2015 Year in Review {The Best Posts of 2015}

2015 is over, and what a year it's been. My entire world has changed in this past year, and all of it is for the better. We moved in our new house in February and Caroline was born in August.  From there it's been a whirlwind of sleepless nights and diaper changes and surviving baby bootcamp. Caroline is a really great sleeper, though, so that has been my saving grace.  She is now a cooing little bundle of love that we cannot get enough of. Not gonna lie, I have been plunged into the … [Read more...]

Best of 2014: Top 10 posts of the Year

As we come to close of 2014 I’m looking back on how my blog has morphed and changed over the years. For the past few years I’ve considered myself to be a DIY & design blogger.  But as I was searching through my analytics to find my top ten most viewed posts of 2014, I was surprised to see that most of them were not DIY related at all. I believe I have officially crossed over into “lifestyle” blog territory.  Fine by me, because it’s WAY easier to document how to toss together some bath salts … [Read more...]

My 2013 Project Wrap Up

It is always fun for me to go back through the year and create a post that shows all the projects we completed during the year.  It’s like a big virtual pat on the back to look back at what all has been accomplished.  Here is my 2013 year in review, starting in January.   My first big project of the year was one of my most popular projects ever (and it also won the Lamps.com contest and got me featured for the first time on Apartment Therapy, Good Housekeeping and MSNLiving!)  The DIY … [Read more...]

2012 year in Decorating Review

  2012 is over already?  WHAT?  I blinked.  Seriously.  When I look back at my blog and the past three years that I’ve been showing off my DIY projects here, I get the warm and fuzzies at how much has been accomplished.  This helps offset the feeling of remorse and guilt that I get when I look at how incomplete my list of 2012 DIYables and Would-be-niceables remains.  Whoops.  I set my sights WAY too high.  I really need to lower my standards, huh?  For the complete Archive of my DIY … [Read more...]

Last year I had so much fun going through all of my design projects for the 2010 Year in Home Review to link up over at Rhoda's Southern Hospitality Blog. So here we go, a month-by-month review of my top DIY home design projects this year. In January my first DIY project of the year was a big transformation when I spraypainted the brass dining room light … [Read more...]

2010 year in home review

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is having a link party featuring all of our biggest project accomplishments of 2010 so this is me linking up! 2010 was a HUGE year for us. We made some drastic changes in both the home and office department this year. In January we moved into our new office model center that we built. I got to decorate my new office, which included this easy architectural door decor: Then in May we finally sold our old house after being on the market for 18+ months. What … [Read more...]
